History of Wenzhou Medical University
Wenzhou Medical University or WZMU was originally formed as Zhejiang Special Medical School in 1912.
It was renamed Wenzhou Medical College in 1958 and further converted to Wenzhou Medical University in 2013.
From 2014, the university is managed by the Ministry of Education, the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

Hostel for International Students
Wenzhou Medical University has highly developed hostel rooms. Mostly all are 2-sharing in Chashan campus. All rooms have air-conditioners and internet access. The attached bathroom fitted with geyser for 24 hours of hot water is with these rooms.

Wenzhou Medical University 1st Affiliated Hospital is a grade 3-A hospital located in Wenzhou. It was founded in 1919 as the Ouhai hospital. As per 2016 statistics, there were:

- 33,000 surgeries were done.
The hospital employs 4,425 staff, which includes,
